Week 6 – Term 4

This week in Maths we have been busy working on MONEY!

  • We have focused on adding different Australian coins and finding the amount of change required.
  • We have also worked on TRANSFORMATION of shapes; flip, slide and turn. This can be a tricky concept, but we have liked the Year 2s persistence and creativity.

In Writing, the Year 2s have been working on discussion pieces of writing. In this style of writing, we need to express both points of view then give our opinion at the end. One topic we worked on was, ‘Children Should Play Sport’. We saw some great reasons for and against.

We also had another Transition session, where our students went to work with the current Year 3 teachers. We do not know our classes or teacher yet, but the students still enjoyed the experience of being in a Year 3 class.

Thanks again for all your support with the Story Dogs Fundraiser – we raised a little over $150 for this great volunteer cause that come in a read with some of our Year 2 students – http://storydogs.org.au/

Reminders:

  • Please continue to bring any bottle caps in for our up-and-coming inquiry unit on ‘Motion’
  • If you also have any bottles or small boxes that could help the students make cars, send them in!

Many thanks,

Year 2 Team
